Flu Season 2020 Update

Flu Season 2020 Update

The Upper Valley Career Center takes very seriously the health and safety of students, staff, and guests within our district. This concern is put into action through emergency prevention and management plans that have been established and are reviewed routinely with local agencies and advisory groups.

With the current national attention on the CoronaVirus (COVID-19), our staff nurse and administration are monitoring the most recent information from the US Department of Health and Human Services as well as the the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While there are no immediate threats to UVCC or our geographic region, our custodial staff has increased their regular building disinfection practices to help lessen the surface transfer of germs and viruses on our campus.

Prevention is key with all illnesses, so here are a few steps to help protect yourself and all those around you:

  • Stay home if you have flu-like symptoms.
    • (fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, or fatigue)
  • Wash your hands regularly during the day for at least 20 seconds, and use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid close contact with others when possible
  • Consider getting a flu shot if you haven’t had one. This can prevent or lessen symptoms of the flu.
  • Don’t panic. Most of people who contract the seasonal flu or Coronavirus make a complete recovery with rest in their home.

The Upper Valley Career Center will continue to monitor the flu season and will inform the public if any additional actions need to be taken in order to protect those within our district.
